On the 25 May 2022 in the Auditorium Maximum of University of Bielsko-Biala there was a presentation of the research probe project undertaken by the students of V High School in Bielsko-Biala. In April the team of 4 people, Team VLO, won 1st place in the CanSat competition organized by the European Space Agency.
Team VLO is made up of high school students: Krzysztof Janota, Emil Kielar, Natalia Pierkiel and Julia Zielińska.
They are members of the Inter-disciplinary Student Research Group “Engineer of XXI Century” University of Bielsko-Biala. Work on the probe was carried out under the scientific supervision of employees of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Bielsko-Biala: Dr. Sławomir Herma, Dr. Dawid Kotrys and the principal of LO V Marek Myśliński, M.Sc.
The main objective of the project was to analyze the age and condition of the forest stands in the Błędów Desert. The device constructed by the young scientists from Bielsko-Biała may also be used to monitor large areas of forest fires or – after minor modifications – to search for water (in the future, perhaps also on other planets). The team will represent Poland in the European finals of CanSat 2021/2022, which will be held on 20-25th June in Bologna, Italy.
The special guest of the meeting was Krzysztof Fijak, director of the research and development department at SatRevolution, a company that specializes in the construction of small, lightweight nanosatellites. His presentation to the numerous young people from Bielsko-Biała secondary schools and technical schools discussed the possibilities and advantages of managing one’s own development and professional career.
