On Tuesday 16 April, students of the University Bielsko-Biala - "Inter-disciplinary Student Research Group “Engineer of XXI Century” and "VIP", as well as students of Management and Production Engineering, together with their tutors, visited the modern Diehl Metering production plant in Bażanowice.

Diehl Metering is a world leader in the design, manufacture and supply of smart metering solutions.

The visit started with a guided tour of the production hall, where the company's production structure and machinery were presented. The tour participants then attended the following thematic sessions related to the operation of the plant:

• Material and information flow through the process. 2D/3D layout planning - vis Table.
• MTM methods of production time/chronometer planning and production time balancing.
• Measuring the efficiency of the production process, main KPIs of process efficiency - MES in production using ACASRS and MESMA as examples.

After a solid dose of theory, it was time for a practical test - the students' task was to assemble a water meter, test it and pack it away. The task only seemed easy on the surface.... The visit ended with a hearty snack and a group photo.
