On December 6, 2024, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Bielsko-Biała hosted the 14th International Conference "Engineer of the 21st Century." The event attracted participants from Poland and abroad, including students, doctoral candidates, researchers, and representatives from the technology industry. The main goal of the conference was to present the latest scientific achievements, exchange experiences, and inspire collaboration on innovative projects within the framework of "Industry 4.0."

Participants had the opportunity to attend engaging presentations during thematic panels and participate in a poster session. During this session, young researchers showcased their study results and projects, which garnered significant interest from the attendees. It was also a chance for direct discussions with the authors, enabling detailed exploration of the topics presented and the establishment of valuable professional connections.

The scientific segment of the conference culminated in the preparation of four academic monographs, containing full versions of selected works presented at the event.

The "Engineer of the 21st Century" conference also featured accompanying events. One of them was the training session “FlexSim, Basic Level,” conducted by experts from Intermarium. Participants learned how to build basic models using the available library of 3D objects. Upon completing the training, attendees received certificates, enhancing their professional competencies.

Additionally, several technology companies showcased their solutions at the conference, including:

  • Rectus Polska RQS – pneumatic technologies,
  • ABB – industrial switchboards,
  • SICK – machine and equipment safety systems,
  • Rockwell Automation – drive systems and control units,
  • Astor and Kawasaki – the Astorino robot created using 3D printing technology,
  • Astar – electronic devices used in medicine.

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the ABB IRB 1200 robot, which was donated to students by Polmotors. This state-of-the-art equipment will be used for educational purposes, supporting the development of programming and automation skills.

Furthermore, high school students had the opportunity to participate in specially designed laboratory workshops as part of the conference. Young technology enthusiasts explored areas such as industrial robotics, 3D printing technology, and Cognex vision systems. This was a unique opportunity for hands-on experience and inspiration in the field of modern technologies.

The conference also held an international dimension, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening inter-university collaboration.

The event proved to be not only an inspiring platform for scientific reflection but also a space for integrating the academic community with industry representatives. The established connections and relationships are expected to lead to new and innovative initiatives in the future.

The organizers extend heartfelt thanks to all participants, speakers, and sponsors for their contributions to the success of this year's conference edition.
